Obama Insults Middle America

"You go into some of these small towns in Pennsylvania, and like a lot of small towns in the Midwest, the jobs have been gone now for 25 years and nothing’s replaced them. And they fell through the Clinton administration, and the Bush administration, and each successive administration has said that somehow these communities are gonna regenerate and they have not. So it’s not surprising then that they get bitter, they cling to guns or religion or antipathy to people who aren’t like them or anti-immigrant sentiment or anti-trade sentiment as a way to explain their frustrations."

Having grown up in the Midwest, and now living in Pennsylvania, I must voice my outrage at Senator Obama's remarks.

The people of "small town America" are the heart and soul of America. We are its conscience and its moral fiber. Our tendency to "cling to... religion" is probably the only thing keeping America from spiraling downward into a Godless hell of a Euro-state, where what is Right and what is law do not frequently coincide.

We in "flyover country" cling to our guns not because we are frustrated at a system that does
not support us, but because we are carrying on the traditions of our forefathers: We hunt for game and sport, and we maintain vigilance and guard over the most precious treasure of all--Liberty. Sounds overly romantic and maybe a little scary, but there it is. Americans have guns and guard their rights to them jealously because Government has shown Americans that it will abuse small town Americans if they are not watched.

Remember, our country was founded by Englishmen who's government was abusing their God-given rights. Click here for a list of their grievances.

Are we against immigrants? Absolutely not! We are a nation of immigrants. Immigrants have made our nation the greatest on earth! The greatest people of the world have come to America for its opportunities, freedoms, and liberties. We are, however, a nation of laws. And Americans, as a whole, have no use for criminals. Immigrate legally and become an American, like our ancestors did, or not at all.

What I don't understand is how someone so out of touch with so much of the populace hopes to become the President of the United States. Nearly 40% of American households own a firearm. And as far as religion, here is a map of American vs. European belief in God:

You'll see I didn't call them godless lightly.

Anyhow, digest his speech a little bit, and tell me what you think.
