Vegans and vegetarians may have real reasons for their food choices, but I question why. Are the reasons nothing more than a form of concealment? Humans, and all other apex predators on earth, eat meat. Seems we are meant to consume meat if we are to continue to be an apex creature. Cows, pigs, chickens, and other tasty things are not apex. Real humans have four canine teeth (non-terrestrials may not): two in the upper (maxillary) and two in the lower (mandibular) arch of their jaw. This wonderful salad recipe seems to put the question moot. Are those who reject meet actually aliens? Question: Are those who eat vege burgers, tofu turkey, and other types of pretend meat products fooling anyone? Why do they eat pretend meat? Aliens are among us! Count the incisors!

It’s 2 years into Obama’s first term, and it took me almost 2 years to realize something. A huge revelation. I realized it while I was listening to his Iraq speech the other night, during which Obama was sure to dig into President Bush (just a little).

What I realized was that I have dated this guy before. Obama is like the new boyfriend who is absolutely obsessed with your ex-boyfriend. And he spends most of his time trashing your old boyfriend for no real reason, other than he’s insecure and pre-pubescent and doesn’t really know how to behave in an adult relationship. So he complains about your ex-boyfriend incessantly, and tells you that your life is a mess now because of him, that he was a loser, and what were you doing with him all those years?

And he hates all the gifts he ever gave you, he doesn’t like it when you wear those earrings your ex-boyfriend gave you 5 years ago. And that TV you and your ex-boyfriend bought is a piece of crap, and he’s going to get you a new one – a better one – even though you really like the old TV and it works just fine.

And he’s going to make your life infinitely better – as soon as he stops whining about your ex-boyfriend. And he’s the best thing that ever happened to you – even though you’re not sure why. And if you don’t appreciate all that he does for you, then maybe you should just go back to your dumb ex-boyfriend, because you’re kind of dumb, too.

I gotta tell ya, this boyfriend – the Obama boyfriend – is the most annoying boyfriend ever. And a very short time into dating him, you realize this. It’s an “aha!” moment that makes you think, “what the hell was I thinking?”

You think, “well, he was good-looking, he talks a good game, smart, charming – but he’s a man-child, and he’s changing my life irreparably just because he hates my ex-boyfriend. And I don’t really WANT to change my life irreparably. I’m thinking my life’s pretty good, and I just want to share it with someone supportive. I don’t need to be taken care of, I just want someone who GETS me.”

The problem, I just realized during this Iraq speech, is Obama doesn’t get me. And he doesn’t get you either. But in the process of insisting that he is the best thing ever to happen to you, he’s going to make us all pretty darn miserable.

And suddenly that ex-boyfriend isn’t looking like such a bad guy after all.

Government Finance Explained!

It's a slow day in a little East Texas town. The sun is beating down, and the streets are deserted. Times are tough, everybody is in debt, and everybody lives on credit.

On this particular day a rich tourist from back east is driving through town. He stops at the motel and lays a $100 bill on the desk saying he wants to inspect the rooms upstairs in order to pick one to spend the night.

As soon as the man walks upstairs, the owner grabs the bill and runs next door to pay his debt to the butcher.
The butcher takes the $100 and runs down the street to retire his debt to the pig farmer.

The pig farmer takes the $100 and heads off to pay his bill at the supplier of feed and fuel.

The guy at the Farmer's Co-op takes the $100 and runs to pay his debt to the local prostitute who has also been facing hard times and has had to offer her "services" on credit. The hooker rushes to the hotel and pays off her room bill with the hotel owner. The hotel proprietor then places the $100 back on the counter so the rich traveler will not suspect anything.

At that moment the traveler comes down the stairs, picks up the $100 bill, states that the rooms are not satisfactory, pockets the money, and leaves town. No one produced anything. No one earned anything. However, the whole town is now out of debt and now looks to the future with a lot more optimism.

And that, ladies and gentlemen, is how the United States Government is conducting business today.

John's favourite rooster, old Butch, was a very fine specimen, but this morning he noticed old Butch's bell hadn't rung at all! When he went to investigate, he saw the other roosters were busy chasingpullets, bells-a-ringing, but the pullets, hearing the roosters coming,could run for cover.

To John's amazement, old Butch had his bell in his beak, so it couldn't ring.He'd sneak up on a pullet, do his job and walk on to the next one. John was so proud of old Butch, he entered him in the Renfrew County Fairand he became an overnight sensation among the judges. The result was the judges not only awarded old Butch the No Bell Piece Prizebut they also awarded him the Pulletsurprise as well.

Clearly old Butch was a politician in the making.Who else but a politician could figure outhow to win two of the most highly coveted awardson our planet by being the best at sneaking up on the populaceand screwing them when they weren't paying attention.

OMFG. This is just too much. I can't really think of what to say. I'm just flabbergasted! Ooh! Goody! We barbarian Americans have finally won the friendship of the godless Eurotrash establishment!

The folks at Maggie's Farm (my favorite non-TML blog, btw) pretty much took what I was feeling behind my speechlessness and posted it in list form here:

1. Everyone should start their day with a good laugh, it scientifically proven to lead to better attitudes toward whatever we do, which is scientifically proven to lead to better results;

2. Because I can’t find any other commenter who believes he deserved it, it’s heartening that we can unite around common-sense;

3. Since none can justify it, commenters on other candidates for the 2010 congressional and 2012 presidential election may be more honest about those who run on empty records and words;

4. President Obama’s preparation for and delivery of an acceptance speech may distract him from doing more to weaken the US and allies and reward foes, thus furthering peace;

5. President Obama no longer actually has to do anything to receive a Nobel Peace Prize, which may reduce he further worsening the outcomes of the measures already taken, thus furthering peace;

6. All those living in countries wracked by conflict and those in countries where they are oppressed can relax instead of fighting or standing up, knowing that hope is enough to be rewarded for accomplishing nothing, thus furthering peace;

7. The Nobel Prize will fit in nicely to the new White House décor alongside the Obama chosen faux painting;

8. Displaying encouraging honesty, President Obama says “ ‘I do not feel I deserve to be in the company’ of previous winners, ‘transformative figures who've been honored by this prize, men and women who've inspired me and inspired the entire world through their courageous pursuit of peace.’ ”

9. I can look forward to President Obama’s picture officially being hung alongside Yasser Arafat and Le Duc Tho’s.

10. The 50-year old childhood book I have of Nobel Peace Prize speeches that inspire by the winners’ track-records will rise in value. Perhaps, President Obama will use the prize money to buy it from me.

If the population isn’t furious about that, then we have reached the end of this chapter in American history – a chapter that began with a sprawling agrarian nation mastering the power of industry to defeat world-conquering monsters, and rebuild the broken nations of its grandparents. A vehicle at 25 mpg and 12,000 miles per year uses 480 gallons a year.

So, the average "Cash for Clunkers" transaction will reduce US gasoline consumption by 320 gallons per year.

They claim 700,000 vehicles – so that's 224 million gallons / year.

That equates to a bit over 5 million barrels of oil.

5 million barrels of oil is about ¼ of one day's US consumption.

And, 5 million barrels of oil costs about $350 million dollars at $70/bbl.

So, we all contributed to spending $3 billion to save $350 million.

How good a deal was that ???

They'll no doubt do a great job with health care !!

A guy was traveling through Mexico on vacation when, low and behold, he

lost his wallet and all identification. Cutting his trip short, he

attempted to make his way home, but was stopped by the Customs Agent at the

Tijuana border.

'May I see your identification, please?' asked the agent.

'I'm sorry, but I lost my wallet,' replied the guy.

'Sure, buddy, I hear that every day. No ID, no crossing the border,' said

You know, it seems like these crazy numbers get thrown around these days any time we start talking about government spending.

I think one of the reasons there is not more outrage about the amount of money these yahoos are spending, is that the numbers are just plain hard to comprehend. Heck, they might not even understand how much money that is.

I'm not calling anyone stupid... It's just, when is the last time you saw a trillion of anything? And don't count molecules... they are too small for us to see individually, as a rule.

Its almost impossible to visualize that number... its so big, its almost nonsensical... just like that scene in Austin Powers where Dr. Evil demands a sum of money so huge that all the good guys can do is laugh at him.

And now the frothing, delerious moonbats are accusing him of racism because of disagreement with the President, and saying what he thinks.

Racism? WTF?!? Seriously, now you can't disagree with someone without being racist? Do I just have to nod my head and drool to whatever half-assed ideas my political masters come up with?

What about this racist girl then? What? You mean that's not racism? Its politically protected free speech? Huh. Quite the double standard there.

And now, one of the biggest American failures since Social Security, Jimmy Carter is coming on the air and calling Joe Wilson a racist, and pretty much saying that anyone who disagrees with the President is a racist.

For any of my local readers (Western PA), there is going to be a real, live Tea Party hereabouts. Saturday, the 11th, at the Beaver County Courthouse, Beaver, PA. Be there, or be square. I think I'll go, and may even blog about it.

I'm coming off of midnight shift that day, though, so we'll see if I make it up in time. This whole being a productive member of society thing is tough sometimes.

Sure beats having your Uncle Sam be your dad, though. I'm grown and can take care of myself. I don't need government man to be my nurse-maid.

Town Hall Meeting

I recently received a phone call (automated) from one of my Congressmen, Jason Altmire (D-PA) to attend a town hall meeting he is hosting on Wednesday afternoon. This conflicts with a corn-roast I was previously planning on attending, but I may end up going.

The video below shows some of the outrage that people are feeling, and directing towards the clowns that are supposed to be representing them, that instead think are ruling them.

I found it particularly infuriating/humorous when the politician is unable to handle direct

conversation and confrontation in normal, non-coached, non-media style: "I never said that, and I apologized!" Which if you listen drew jeers from the crowd.

We are being taxed with out being represented. Tyrrany isn't always from a king. The last tyrant's representatives were not treated well by the American public. Heck, we used to get antsy about whiskey taxes, here in PA.

I'm not saying that we're about to start abusing politicians (though if a Union thug tries to shove me around, there may be issues... hey and I'm a Union worker) but people are getting restless.

Americans never shout down politicians. Its weird. But now they do. Loudly. Perhaps they have awakened a long dormant spirit of '76, brought out of hibernation from years of encroachment on their liberty.

I have never seen Americans so interested in politics in my lifetime, as has occured over this

healthcare debacle and the government bailout fiasco. But faced with increasing government power grabs and politicians that are spending taxpayer dollars like tokens at a Chuck-E-Cheese, perhaps we are finally understanding what happens when you get a bunch of self-serving, power-hungry, out-to-change-the-world-for-its-own-good people in a position of power.

Congress should not be a career. You shouldn't want to be there, particularly. If you are seeking power, I don't want you there. I want a reluctant politician. Someone who has better things to do. Family to raise, a farm to run, etc. Someone

nominated and picked by his peers, then sent to Washington. Not someone who is chomping at the bit to go, or who would go through a lengthy court battle to end up there. A man (gender neutral use here, ladies) who will keep his hand out of my pocketbook, because he doesn't want Government Man in his. Someone who will keep the government out of my life.

I want a man there who if nothing gets done by the governtment during his entire term of office, will look back and go, "Well, that's better than screwing something up!" and count it a victory, rather than trying to tell me what a great congressman he is by how much he changed stuff. At least when government is doing nothing, it is not doing anything to make my life worse.

(A bit of a long read, but fun--in a sad kind of way)

John G. is 63 years old and owns a small business. He's a life-long
Republican and sees his dream of retiring next year has all but evaporated.
With the stock market crashing and new taxes coming his way, John assumes
now that he will work to his dying day.

John has a granddaughter. Ashley is a recent college grad. She drives a
flashy hybrid car, wears all the latest fashions, and loves to go out to
nightclub s and restaurants. Ashley campaigned hard for Barak Obama. After
the election she made sure her grandfather (and all other Republican family
members) received a big I told-you-so earful on how the world is going to
be
a much better place now that her party is taking over.

Having lost both roommates, Ashley recently ran short of cash and cannot
pay the rent (again) on her 3 bedroom townhouse. Like she has done many
times
in the past, she e-mailed her grandfather asking for some financial help.
Here
is his reply:

Sweetheart,

I received your request for assistance.

Ashley, you know I love you dearly and I'm sympathetic to your financial
plight. Unfortunately, times have changed. With the election of President
Obama, your grandmother and I have had to set forth a bold new economic

plan of our own..."The Ashley Economic Empowerment Plan." Let me explain.

Your grandmother and I are life-long, wage-earning tax payers. We have
lived
a comfortable life, as you know, but we have never had the fancier things
like expensive vacations, luxury cars or anything that we could not afford.

has changed. Your president is raising our personal and business taxes
significantly. He says it is so he can give our hard earned money to other
people. Do you know what this means, Ashley? It means less for us, and we
must cut back on many business and personal expenses.

expense -- but at our expense.

number which I memorized years ago.

Perhaps you can now understand what I've been saying all my life: those who
vote for a president should consider the impact on the nation as a whole,
and not be just concerned with what they can get for themselves. What Obama
supporters don't seem to realize is all of the money he is redistributing
to illegal aliens and non-taxpaying Americans (the so-called "less
fortunate")
comes from tax-paying families.

Remember how you told me, "Only the richest of the rich will be affected"?
Well guess what, honey? Because we own a business, your grandmother and I
are now considered to be the richest of the rich. On paper, it might look
that way, but in the real world, we are far from it.

As you said while campaigning for Obama, some people will have to carry
more
of the burden so all of America can prosper. You understand what that
means, right? It means that raising taxes on productive people results in
them
having less money. Less money for everything, including granddaughters.
I'm sorry, Ashley, but the well has run dry. The free lunches are over. I
have no money to give you now.

So, congratulations on your choice for "change." For future reference, I
encourage you to try and add up the total value of the gifts and cash you
have received from us, just since you went off to college, and compare it
to what you expect to get from Mr. Obama over the next 4 (or 8) years. I

not kept track of it, Ashley. It has all truly been the gift of our hearts.

And I have to say, what a relief that common sense can prevail, even if its by a 5-4 majority.

I have to ask what the hell the 4 "Justices" who dissented were thinking! What were they thinking? (Told you, I had to ask.)

Can you imagine the outrage if the firemen involved were black men, passed the test, and then the city of New Haven decided that not enough white people passed the test, so they threw it out? I mean, c'mon, that has to be the common sense test you apply to this kind of thing--if situations were reversed, would it be a moral outrage?

And the answer, of course, is yes. It would be

outrageous. There was a clear cut case of discrimination. I won't use the term "reverse discrimination" here. It implies that you can only discriminate if you are a member of a supposed cultural majority.

I believe the verbage of our country's quite necessary EEO laws state that you aren't allowed to discriminate for hiring or promotion on race, sex, creed, religion, or disability.

And when it says race, it means ANY race. That's the way it should be. We are all men, created EQUAL, and endowed by our Creator with the inalienable rights of Life, Liberty, and Property (That's pursuit of happiness to those of you who haven't the chance to read any Locke.)

4 Dissenters!?! WTF, over! The Judicial Branch is an important check to the Legislative and Executive, but I think our overlords in black might need to be reeled in a bit. 4 people tried to push a political agenda from the Bench, and it almost worked.

Notice I didn't say Conservative, Liberal, Democrat or Republican there. I object to any agenda being pushed from the bench contrary to the framework of The Constitution, and interpreted in the light of the Founders' intent.

I can not think of one government bureaucracy that is efficient nor one government owned business (Amtrak, USPS, etc.) that turns a penny of profit. What's going on (Why we're talking about Iran)

First of all, some of you may be wondering why we are talking about Iran. Easy: they are a people struggling for liberty out from under the weight of an oppressive totalitarian regime. They are yearning for a 21st century life and reform. I admire that, and you probably do too.

There is something else we can learn from what is going on here, though. We can learn how a government in the modern age will attempt to suppress and control all forms of communication in order to prevent dissent.

I usually am quite disparaging towards Twitter and other "pop" forms of instant communication. However, its one of the few outlets that the Iranian government has not been able to suppress fully--yet (cell phones and most internet access were the first to go).

If you read the "tweets" (I hate even using that syrupy pop term) on the #IranElection channel (link takes you there, refresh often) you will be able to watch their revolution occur in real time.

You'll get to see how intelligence agencies spread disinformation, and you'll be able to follow the stories of real people.

Keep this in mind when our leaders want to start getting more control over your freedom of speech, both online and in other areas. For instance, moves to end blog anonymity. You should always be wary of government control.

You may have noticed the color green being featured not only on our site, but others. Bloggers showing solidarity with the Iranian demonstrators are using this color. I guess I better cancel my vacation plans to Persia.

people, so I'll go ahead and repost it in every threads with some adjustments. Sorry, this

the level of TL;DR but I really am trying to cram

the most relevant information and speculation only. Everything is updated as events unfold, especially the timeline and what will

happen in the future.

Suppression of Dissent - The Players

Currently, there are either

two or three groups who are suppressing the students on the ground that you'll read about throughout this

thread:

1. The Basij
2. Ansar Hizbullah (which I will refer to as Ansar)3. Lebanese Hizbullah (Unconfirmed but highly probable. Der Spiegel, based on a Voice of America report

, says that 5,000 Hizbullah fighters are currently in Iran masquerading as

riot police, confirming the independent reports. Many different independent reports and video point tha

t way. Even in the last hours other independent twitter feeds have declared witnessing thugs beating on people while shouting in Arabic; I

will refer to them as Hizbullah)

- The Basij

are your regular paramilitary organization. They are the armed hand of the clerics.

The Basij are a legal group, officially a student union, and are legally under direct orders

of the Revolutionary Guard. Their main raison d'être is to quell dissent. They are the

ones who go and crack skulls, force people to participate in pro-regime demonstrations, and generally try to stop any demonstrations from even starting. They are located throughout the country, in every mosque, every university, every social club you can think of. They function in a way very similar to the brownshirts.

They were the ones who first started the crackdown after the election, but it wasn't enough. While they are violent and repressive, they are still Persian and attacking fellow citizens. A beating is one thing, mass killings another.

- Another group was working with them, whose members are even more extreme, is Ansar. There is a lot of cross-membership between the Basij and Ansar, though not all are members of the other group and vice-versa. The vast majority of Ansar are Persians (either Basij or ex-military), though a lot of Arab recruits come from Lebanon and train with them under supervision of the Revolutionary Guard. They are not functioning under a legal umbrella, they are considered a vigilante group, but they pledge loyalty directly to the Supreme Leader and most people believe that they are under his control. They are currently helping the Basij to control the riots, but due to the fact that they are Persians and in lower numbers than the Basij, they are not that active.

- The Lebanese Hizbullah is a direct offshoot (and under direct control) of the Iranian Hizbullah (itself under direct control of the Supreme Leader) and cooperates closely with Ansar though Ansar occupies itself only with Iran's domestic policies, while Hizbullah occupies itself only with Iran's foreign policy unless there is a crisis like right now. However, Hizbullah has been called to stop violent riots in Iran in the past.

(the following paragraph includes some speculation based on reports from ground zero) Hizbullah flew in a lot of their members in Iran, most likely a good deal even before the elections in case there were trouble. They are the ones who speak Arabs and are unleashing the biggest level of violence on the Persians so far. Another wave arrived recently and there is chatter that yet another wave of Hizbullah reinforcements are coming in from Lebanon as we speak. According to Iranians on the ground, they are the ones riding motorcycles, beating men women and children indiscriminately and firing live ammunitions at students.

What will happen

Unless the army decides to intervene in the favor of the Council and to stop the early beginnings of the new Revolution, Ansar & Hizbullah members will be the ones doing the brunt of the killing and repression with Basij as a support while also protecting government buildings and try to do crowd control. The police seems to have for the most part disbanded in centers like Tehran according to all reports, including international media. If the police decides to come back, they will focus less on protection and crowd control, so the Basij will start to crack more skulls).

Currently, this is what is happening.

Timeline
note: I built this through both articles and twitter feeds, so I do not claim that this is a 100% factually correct representation of reality, but this is the general narrative.

- When the first spontaneous riots erupted, the first wave the Iranian Riot Police was called in, and short after the Basij also took the scene. The RP concentrated mostly around public buildings and streets while the Basij took position around student groups, especiallly universities.

- As things got more out of hand, more and more Basij troops were called in, as the police started dispersing. The riot police are less inclined (or, rather I should say the Basij are more inclined) to use violence so they retreated and leaving the place to the Basij.

- With the second wave of Basij also came Ansar Hizbullah members. This is the point where firearms started being used. There are reports of a few murders but it was mostly fired in the air or on walls in order to scare away protesters in University dorms.

- It's around the time of the second wave that the first reports and videos of an important number of non-Persian thugs shouting in Arabic and violently beating people with chains, clubs and electric batons (similar to cattle prods). The end of the second wave came right before the beginning of the current manifestation. Things were getting quieter with only sporadic reports of dissenters being assaulted. Important to note: at this time. the Supreme Leader has authorized these militias to use live ammunition against the crowd if things get out of hand (source: BBC)

- This brings us to the third wave, which just began around 12:30PM for those of us on the East Coast. According to all reports, plainclothes militia have opened fire on civilians protesting peacefully. Chaos erupted in the streets, with reports of fighting all over Tehran and spreading over Iran. Pictures of people shot, some to death, surfaced and were published in the mainstream media. Things very are ugly and this is spreading in other cities as well. Violent and murderous repression has started. At least a twenty people have been killed so far. Things will spiral down fast, and very soon.

There is a major crackdown on students, especially those with connections to the outside world going on right now. Some people report that the students are fighting back in some

areas. Telephones are being bugged and everyone twittering and sending videos outside of Iran are being rounded up. ISPs were shut down, government hackers are threatening people who twitter, and some of them have vanished in the last 24 hours.

Later, the people started to fight back. First, they took over and burned down a Basij base, killing its commander. Later, a Basij shot a young man in the face in front of their HQ, at which point a policeman went to confront them. The Basij beat the policeman, at which point students stormed the compound, throwing molotov cocktails, burning it to the ground. This is very big.

Tomorrow

Tomorrow, supporters of Moussavi have a manifestation planned for 5pm, Tehran time. Roughly the same number or more is expected to attend. Plenty of twitter chat about dressing in black.

The pro-Ahmadinejad crowd however are planning a counter-demonstration at the very same place the supporters are supposed to gather at 3pm. Most agree that basically they are simply going to gather for a confrontation. Basij from all over the country are moving to Tehran and supporters are being bused from all over the country.

A major showdown is expected to unfold

The Supreme Leader has also called for a 10-day inquiry into the claims of fraud, but it has been widely dismissed as cosmetic. The Revolution lives on.

Back From Vacation

Well, most of the staff of TML is back from vacation, now, with the exception of Brother Malcolm, who is still running amok in Europe, reminding himself how much better it is to be an American.

This past winter I put on 15 pounds that I have not been able to shed. Genetics are not to blame and it is not the fault of the previous administration. I am not a victim. Since I can't blame my parents or the government I need to take personal responsibility. Taking personal responsibility is not the current vogue, though it was a concept that I was raised with and tried to inculcate to my children - they learned the lesson well. I found a website that explains my added weight and girth. Scroll down the left side of the site and you can see the things that appeal to me. Forget the arugula, give me protein and fats. Shame? Notre Dame Is Dead To Me

I was raised to be a Notre Dame fan: Catholic and born 8 miles from there, on the other side of the Michigan border, I remember learning the fight song as a kid.

I remember watching the Irish play football, and cheering away. No longer.

While this is not a religious website, my religion has shaped who I am, and what I believe. One of the things that I believe in strongly, is that children are children from conception, and that Abortion is nothing by legalized infanticide--that is, murder. It is, in my opinion, no less horifying than the ancient Greeks leaving unwanted babes on a hillside to die of exposure.

Anyone who has held a child in their arms has, in my opinion, witnessed a no-shit miracle.

Notre Dame, a Catholic college, has a responsibility to uphold the teachings of the Roman Catholic church. That is:

"it cannot be safely taught in Catholic schools that it is lawful to perform . . . any surgical operation which is directly destructive of the life of the fetus or the mother."--Tribunal of the Holy Office, 1889

The Catechism of the Catholic Church is very, very clear on this topic.

Then, the faculty go an present Obama with an honorary degree, to which he then proceeds to cloud the issue by using political double-speak, like calling for "Fair Minded Debate". Debate? About Murder? We aren't talking climate science here, we are talking about children's lives!

I believe that by honoring the accomplishments of this man, the University is passively supporting his policies. I call for their censure.

Boy Scouting Has Adapted

Troop 76 taught me a tremendous amount of skills and information to help me be a better citizen and to enjoy, preserve, and survive, in the wilderness. I did not progress on to the Explorer Scout level, but after reading this article I would have joined in a minute. This is definitely a ray of hope for the youth of our country.

Reduction For Socialist Medical Exspense

When government gives permission for the killing of one segment of the population, does it not then give permission for the death of others in our society? I believe it does, thus I am against abortion and capital punishment. It seems, though, that the government's recent exploration into socialist health care will add another segment into the 'best to be dead' category, the elderly. Abortion kills the young, capital punishment kills the psychos and societal misfits, but the new exploration looks at the financial reward for limiting care to the elderly. I guess if the government can end life in it's early stages it then has the right to end it at later stages.

(Un)Fairness Doctrine

Its on its way back, and like what the Moonbats are doing AGW, they are simply trying to confuse the issue in Orwellian double-speak to make their cause sound appealing to the uninformed.

They've been doing that for a while... Take the "Fairness Doctrine" as an example. Who wouldn't be for something that says we should be fair, right? Sound like a good doctrine? Well, of course, until you take a look at it. But they swing it around like a club come election time: "My opponent is not in favor of being fair!"

Anyhow, take a peak at this stuff I got from the Media Research Center:

"media diversity" and "localism" to silence talk radio in

similar fashion to the "Fairness Doctrine."

These are the new "Fairness" Doctrines, and their time has

come. The process to silence the opposition voice is upon us!

Last week the Obama Administration announced it's Federal

Communications Commission (FCC) "Advisory Committee on

Diversity for Communications in the Digital Age."

This Commission is made up of a laundry list of more than

a dozen left-wing organizations, and a smattering of radio

and television companies included to break up the monotony.

Noticeably absent are conservative organizations. In fact,

not one was invited to participate this Commission!

This is Obama's idea of media diversity? Freezing out

conservatives when the committee meets next Thursday (May 7).

Now, I don't like to put myself in a box like "conservative" or "Whacked-out leftist commie", but I generally find "conservative" view points more palatable, though I tend towards libertarianism. If I were to put myself in a box, it might be labled "grumpy American voter" or "pretty normal and thinks that Washington is out of touch". Freezing out Conservatives doesn't seem very fair, now does it? Anyhow, the article continues:

Henry Rivera. Back in 1985, President Ronald Reagan replaced

Rivera on the FCC because he was a virulent supporter of the

"Fairness" Doctrine, and Reagan was seeking to end the

un-Constitutional regulatory lock on free speech. Two years

later, Reagan did and the rest is broadcast history.

But since then, the Left has yearned to re-censor talk radio.

And this is how Obama's FCC now plans on doing it--by

implementing the "Fairness" Doctrines.

If you think this is a whacked-out as I do, follow this link and sign the petition to let the Moonbats in Congress know what we think. After all, I imagine its a small step from censoring the radio to a Chinese style censorship of political speech on the internet.

2nd Ammendment Bonanza, build your own AR-15 (Part 1)

Well, with no power of filibuster and a known anti-gun President, we are probably looking at a few years of legislation against our Second Amendment Rights.

So, its time for some fun. This is the first part in a series that will teach you how to build your own AR-15 from pieces/parts. This is courtesy of an acquaintence, who is a avid 2nd Ammendment rights advocate, and also builds his own AR-15's.

Why from parts? Well, it can be done cheaper, or even incrementally--you know, if you're like me and don't have 1500 clams lying around. Anyhow, as Mr. T would say, "Enough Jibba-Jabba!", here is the article:

AR-15 Lowers

“AR-15” is the generic term used to describe the semi-automatic only version of the M-16.

The base of any AR-15 is the lower receiver. They can be bought “stripped,” without any internals, or complete and ready to attach to the upper receiver. The lower receiver is the part that is considered the firearm, even buying one without any internals requires filling out the same paperwork you would if buying any other complete shotgun or rifle. If you’re buying an AR-15 in parts to build yourself, this is the ONLY part of the gun that requires any paperwork at all.

The actual model number/name could vary with manufacturer, but the lower receivers are, for all intents and purposes, interchangeable.

Uppers

Uppers can be bought in parts and put together just like lowers, but for simplicity, we’ll just look at complete uppers. Complete uppers are available in many combinations. Barrel lengths, gas systems( the location of the gas port in the barrel that routes gas back to the bolt carrier group to cycle the rifle), upper style (fixed carry handle or flattop), or sights can all vary.

Accessories make it possible to customize your AR-15 to perform a specific tasks, or to design a general all purpose firearm that can handle many situations. Rail systems make it easy to mount lights, laser, vertical foregrips, or bipods.

Optics and sights are also available in many different flavors. In addition to the original aperture sights, and the traditional magnifying scopes, many variations of non-magnifying and variable power optics are now available.
